Why Creation Care and Missions?
Today, environmental crises and concerns are impacting the way we live in society and think about our future. Though environmental concerns have gained increasing prominence in mainstream politics and media in the West, these issues are global in nature and carry far reaching implications for all peoples. More than ever, the practical needs and the spiritual destinies of the world’s remaining unreached peoples are intersecting with environmental concerns—an opportunity to see God’s redemptive purposes fulfilled among those who need it most.
Creation care is not about political agendas or add-on activities to evangelical mission. The call to steward God’s creation is a complex and multifaceted one, pointing us toward a recapturing of our original mandate as stewards of creation—laboring with Christ over creation and over the souls living in it. Creation care can be the catalyst to release a powerful witness of God’s heart among the nations.
